With the much-awaited launch of macOS Sierra, we're pleased to announce that Tuxera NTFS for Mac 2016 is now available! Macworld has a great overview of the new features in Sierra, so be sure to check them out if you're not quite up to speed. For us, two interesting improvements stand out. One is Sierra's new Optimized Storage. This new feature frees up storage space on your Mac by automatically moving rarely used files to iCloud. This of course requires you to buy a subscription for iCloud storage if you need more than the free 5 GB of space you get.
In addition, iBoysoft NTFS for Mac is not only an NTFS driver but also an NTFS drive manager, helping you control the NTFS drive more efficiently. Just like Disk Utility, one of the native apps in macOS, it enables you to format, check, unmount, repair NTFS disks through a single click. Enable writing to NTFS hard drives for free in Mac OS X (including El Capitan!) Windows uses the NTFS file system for its hard drives. Mac OS X can read files on NTFS hard drives, but it can't write files to them, which is a glaring omission.
- Microsoft NTFS for Mac by Paragon Software provides blazing fast, unlimited read/write access to Microsoft NTFS hard drives, SSDs or thumb drives formatted for Windows computers! A no-brainer upgrade for those installing macOS 10.14 Mojave, Paragon NTFS for Mac remains the best cross-platform utility money can buy, especially now that it plays nice with Apple's new dark mode.
- Check if your driver support el Capitan. And just in case, disable rootless, install driver, and reenable it. It should be fine. However, what I use is Paragon NTFS driver so I am not really sure.
Another new development is Apple File System (APFS), which starting in 2017, will replace the decades-old HFS+. APFS is scalable from Apple Watches to Mac Pros, and should bring better interoperability between all Apple products. It's also more secure and reliable than HFS+. Although APFS won't ship in Apple devices until next year, we're keeping an eye on all the latest developments.
